Closes #35. Parent: #30. Unblocks: #34 (D1-03 preflight must be re-run from the beginning). Depends on merged D1-02 (#32 / PR #33).

The three D1-03 blockers (all confirmed present on BASE_SHA 72bee742ec0b34d2bb16ace95b03794b17ccc1d3 before editing)

  1. Frozen structural token did not match the real target source. scarcity_router_143_task() required assertEqual(bystander.cancels, []); the actual Scarcity Router source at the verified live base 59538e949d2b3488668c9649cf3728dbe87b38bb contains self.assertEqual([], bystander.cancels) (tests/test_e2e_execution.py:908, re-verified read-only during this issue). Every faithful candidate would be deterministically rejected after the model turn.
  2. Live CodexStdio construction omitted schema_version. connection_factory() passed schema_methods=CODEX_METHODS without schema_version; CodexStdio.__init__ requires schema_version == expected_version whenever the method inventory is non-empty, so the live factory always raised ValueError before starting app-server.
  3. Trusted reasoning-effort evidence was not wired into the live CLI. _dogfood() called run_dogfood() without supported_efforts, leaving frozenset(); the real Router selection zai/glm-5.3/low would correctly fail closed with UnsupportedExecution before dispatch.

Fixes (smallest coherent change; no mechanism changes)

  • Blocker 1 — data-only frozen-task update: required_tokens now ("assertTrue(worker.cancels", "assertEqual([], bystander.cancels)"). No AST infrastructure, no generic assertion matching, no gate weakening; the test fixture was aligned to the real source form so the baseline reflects source reality.
  • Blocker 2 — the live factory now passes schema_version=codex_version, so the pinned env version is both expected binary version and schema version. CodexStdio validation untouched; schema_methods untouched.
  • Blocker 3 — DogfoodLiveComponents gained supported_efforts: frozenset[tuple[str, str, str]], derived in compose_dogfood_live from the single already-parsed CREATIDY_DOGFOOD_RUNTIME_BINDING Allocation (one parsing, no second env var): zai/glm-5.3/low produces exactly frozenset({("zai", "glm-5.3", "low")}); a binding with reasoning_effort is None produces frozenset() (null stays null, never coerced to "none"). The CLI passes it to run_dogfood(..., supported_efforts=components.supported_efforts), which already feeds CodexRuntime. Authority direction preserved: controller binding → constrains Router allocation and supplies Runtime effort evidence; Router output never creates capability. CodexRuntime._inputs untouched.

Regression proof (deterministic; no inference, no real Codex, no SR modification)

New/updated tests in tests/test_dogfood.py + tests/test_cli.py:

  • Real assertion form passes the frozen structural baseline (fixture aligned; e2e accepted run); bystander-assertion-removed and ownership-weakened (weakened to assertEqual(bystander.cancels, bystander.cancels)) both reject; existing skip, assertion-removal, large-sleep, scenario-rename regressions remain; the frozen token pair is pinned in the registry test.
  • test_live_connection_factory_pins_schema_version_to_codex_version constructs the transport through the actual compose_dogfood_live(...).connection_factory() seam against a fake native-shaped app-server binary (version probe + initialize/initialized only — it cannot serve thread/start/turn/start); version/schema disagreement fails closed (composition-level binary mismatch + existing test_codex_stdio.py construction-level pin).
  • Effort authority: matching selection becomes executable end-to-end; differing selection fails closed at the allocator (incompatible); effort-free binding + Router-returned effort fails closed with no trusted support; None vs literal "none" distinct; unsupported explicit effort remains UnsupportedExecution with zero dispatches; recovery and Router provenance do not expand trusted support (durable mode record and decision_provenance are never authority).
  • All three blocker tests were verified to fail against the pre-fix source (reverse-patch check), then pass after the fix.

D1-02 invariants preserved

Exact base freezing, untouched source checkout, controller-owned candidates and allowed-path gate, trusted-task verification argv, tracked-mutation and non-ignored-untracked rejection, ignored-cache neutrality, structural gate over the exact candidate tree, exact-head AGit delivery, no automatic merge/deploy — all covered by the unchanged regression suite. Credential isolation unchanged: codex_environment() closed set, secrets excluded (existing test unchanged and green). The known DEFER (compose_dogfood_live deriving the Codex child env from os.environ) remains deferred and untouched.

Validation

  • Focused suites: tests/test_dogfood.py, tests/test_cli.py, tests/test_codex_stdio.py, tests/test_scarcity_router.py, tests/test_codex_runtime.py — all green.
  • make check: ruff format/check, basedpyright (0 errors), lint-imports, 805 tests passed, secrets scan clean, git diff --check clean.
  • make package-check: wheel/sdist/isolated install + CLI replay passed.
  • make audit not triggered (no dependency/tooling changes).
  • BASE_SHA: 72bee742ec0b34d2bb16ace95b03794b17ccc1d3 (canonical develop, in sync with origin).
  • Scarcity Router checkout /home/adrian/workspace/scarcity-router read-only throughout and clean at exit (HEAD 59538e9…, porcelain empty).

No model inference, no thread/start/turn/start, no Scarcity Router branch/PR, no merge, no deploy.

Closes #35. Parent: #30. Unblocks: #34 (D1-03 preflight must be re-run from the beginning). Depends on merged D1-02 (#32 / PR #33). ## The three D1-03 blockers (all confirmed present on BASE_SHA `72bee742ec0b34d2bb16ace95b03794b17ccc1d3` before editing) 1. **Frozen structural token did not match the real target source.** `scarcity_router_143_task()` required `assertEqual(bystander.cancels, [])`; the actual Scarcity Router source at the verified live base `59538e949d2b3488668c9649cf3728dbe87b38bb` contains `self.assertEqual([], bystander.cancels)` (tests/test_e2e_execution.py:908, re-verified read-only during this issue). Every faithful candidate would be deterministically rejected after the model turn. 2. **Live `CodexStdio` construction omitted `schema_version`.** `connection_factory()` passed `schema_methods=CODEX_METHODS` without `schema_version`; `CodexStdio.__init__` requires `schema_version == expected_version` whenever the method inventory is non-empty, so the live factory always raised `ValueError` before starting app-server. 3. **Trusted reasoning-effort evidence was not wired into the live CLI.** `_dogfood()` called `run_dogfood()` without `supported_efforts`, leaving `frozenset()`; the real Router selection `zai/glm-5.3/low` would correctly fail closed with `UnsupportedExecution` before dispatch. ## Fixes (smallest coherent change; no mechanism changes) - **Blocker 1** — data-only frozen-task update: `required_tokens` now `("assertTrue(worker.cancels", "assertEqual([], bystander.cancels)")`. No AST infrastructure, no generic assertion matching, no gate weakening; the test fixture was aligned to the real source form so the baseline reflects source reality. - **Blocker 2** — the live factory now passes `schema_version=codex_version`, so the pinned env version is both expected binary version and schema version. `CodexStdio` validation untouched; `schema_methods` untouched. - **Blocker 3** — `DogfoodLiveComponents` gained `supported_efforts: frozenset[tuple[str, str, str]]`, derived in `compose_dogfood_live` from the single already-parsed `CREATIDY_DOGFOOD_RUNTIME_BINDING` `Allocation` (one parsing, no second env var): `zai/glm-5.3/low` produces exactly `frozenset({("zai", "glm-5.3", "low")})`; a binding with `reasoning_effort is None` produces `frozenset()` (null stays null, never coerced to `"none"`). The CLI passes it to `run_dogfood(..., supported_efforts=components.supported_efforts)`, which already feeds `CodexRuntime`. Authority direction preserved: controller binding → constrains Router allocation **and** supplies Runtime effort evidence; Router output never creates capability. `CodexRuntime._inputs` untouched. ## Regression proof (deterministic; no inference, no real Codex, no SR modification) New/updated tests in `tests/test_dogfood.py` + `tests/test_cli.py`: - Real assertion form passes the frozen structural baseline (fixture aligned; e2e accepted run); `bystander-assertion-removed` and `ownership-weakened` (weakened to `assertEqual(bystander.cancels, bystander.cancels)`) both reject; existing skip, assertion-removal, large-sleep, scenario-rename regressions remain; the frozen token pair is pinned in the registry test. - `test_live_connection_factory_pins_schema_version_to_codex_version` constructs the transport through the actual `compose_dogfood_live(...).connection_factory()` seam against a fake native-shaped app-server binary (version probe + initialize/initialized only — it cannot serve `thread/start`/`turn/start`); version/schema disagreement fails closed (composition-level binary mismatch + existing `test_codex_stdio.py` construction-level pin). - Effort authority: matching selection becomes executable end-to-end; differing selection fails closed at the allocator (`incompatible`); effort-free binding + Router-returned effort fails closed with no trusted support; `None` vs literal `"none"` distinct; unsupported explicit effort remains `UnsupportedExecution` with zero dispatches; recovery and Router provenance do not expand trusted support (durable mode record and `decision_provenance` are never authority). - All three blocker tests were verified to fail against the pre-fix source (reverse-patch check), then pass after the fix. ## D1-02 invariants preserved Exact base freezing, untouched source checkout, controller-owned candidates and allowed-path gate, trusted-task verification argv, tracked-mutation and non-ignored-untracked rejection, ignored-cache neutrality, structural gate over the exact candidate tree, exact-head AGit delivery, no automatic merge/deploy — all covered by the unchanged regression suite. fix: repair three live dogfood preflight blockers (D1-03a, #35)
All checks were successful
ci / check (pull_request) Successful in 58s
be3d7b97a5
- correct the frozen #143 bystander token to the real source form
  assertEqual([], bystander.cancels) (verified at SR 59538e9)
- pass schema_version=codex_version in the live CodexStdio factory so the
  pinned version is both binary and schema pin
- derive trusted supported_efforts solely from the parsed controller
  runtime binding and wire CLI -> run_dogfood -> CodexRuntime; null effort
  manufactures no evidence and Router selections never create capability

Reviewer focus for this review boundary (from the owner's #35 dispatch instruction):

  1. the structural token now matches the actual frozen #143 semantics (assertEqual([], bystander.cancels));
  2. the Codex schema pin is exact and fail-closed (same pinned value as binary version and schema version);
  3. supported_efforts originates solely from the controller-owned Runtime configuration (CREATIDY_DOGFOOD_RUNTIME_BINDING, parsed once);
  4. the Router recommendation does not create Runtime capability authority;
  5. null effort semantics remain exact (None never becomes "none" and vice versa);
  6. no credential-boundary regression (closed Codex child environment; D1-02 invariants intact);
  7. no inference occurred during delivery (fake/native-shaped fixtures only; no thread/start/turn/start in tests).

Independent Whole-PR Review — PR #36 (D1-03a, closes #35)

Frozen head: be3d7b97a5da20fec622e1b35253564826fbfcdc (verified) · Base: 72bee742ec0b34d2bb16ace95b03794b17ccc1d3 · Linked issue: #35
Reviewer dispatch: Scarcity Router profile repository_review + tightening L4/{5,5,5}/tool+reasoning; selected zai/glm-5.3/max (catalog v4, selected_balanced, degraded=false, profile_policy 8); dispatched GLM-5.3 max, fresh read-only context (manual fresh-review procedure per owner instruction after Agent Manager session creation remained stuck; routed identity preserved).

Platform note: the formal APPROVED review state was rejected by Forgejo with "approve your own pull is not allowed" because the configured reviewer identity (kilo) is also the PR author. This COMMENT preserves the substantive independent verdict; platform_approval_recorded = false.

Verdict summary

  • MERGE_BLOCKER count: 0
  • Structural token matches the real frozen #143 semantics — independently re-verified read-only against Scarcity Router 59538e9… tests/test_e2e_execution.py:908 (self.assertEqual([], bystander.cancels)); gate mechanism, forbidden patterns, verification argv unchanged; no weakening, no AST generalization.
  • Codex schema pin exact and fail-closed — schema_version=codex_version at the live factory; CodexStdio validation and CODEX_METHODS untouched; disagreement fails closed at composition and construction level.
  • supported_efforts originates solely from the single parsed CREATIDY_DOGFOOD_RUNTIME_BINDING Allocation; CLI → run_dogfood → CodexRuntime pass-through; no second env var, no registry, no model-name inference.
  • Router recommendation creates no Runtime capability authority — allocator exact identity matching incl. effort; durable mode record and decision_provenance proven non-authoritative across recovery.
  • Null effort semantics exact — None → frozenset(); literal "none" → explicit distinct tuple; never coerced.
  • No credential-boundary regression — closed Codex child env unchanged; sentinel tests intact and green.
  • No inference during delivery — all tests use in-process fakes or synthetic scripted binaries; the new fake serves only --version/initialize.
  • D1-02 invariant regression coverage verified present and unweakened (base freezing, read-only source, controller-owned candidates/gates, trusted argv, post-verification cleanliness, ignored-cache neutrality, exact-head AGit, no merge/deploy).

Independently verified

  • Exact-head CI run #2088: success at be3d7b9 (Forgejo MCP).
  • Focused suites rerun at the exact head: 199 passed, exit 0, tree clean after; make check (805 tests) / make package-check claims corroborated by CI and target composition.
  • Reverse-patch regression claim logically complete from the diff; forward direction re-verified green.

DEFER (non-blocking)

  1. Known, unchanged: connection_factory builds the Codex child env from os.environ rather than the environ parameter — not worsened by #35; correctly deferred per scope guard.
  2. Pre-existing: substring token check would accept a commented-out assertion — explicit DEFERRED_TO_REVIEW semantic residue, unchanged.

Overall Recommendation

APPROVE — zero MERGE_BLOCKER findings for the frozen head.
